After the earthquake hit Baqen County, Nagqu City, Xizang, rescue and relief efforts continued day and night, with supplies being allocated in a steady stream. During the interviews, three touching scenes — the flying Party flag, the warmth in the cold night, and the lights on the journey — witnessed the tense yet orderly rescue and resettlement work.

The Flying Party Flag

In the quake-hit area, the Party flag fluttering in the cold wind is particularly striking.

At the resettlement site of the Second Village of Maru Township, tents are arranged in neat rows. Handwritten clear cards are pasted on each tent, clearly showing the names of residents and the contact information of corresponding cadres.

At noon on October 25, 86-year-old Yangbeng was resting in the tent. Her family had a 10-day-old newborn baby and an elderly person with a broken leg. The paired-support cadres visited several times a day, and medical staff also made regular home visits for check-ups. "They take very good care of us," Yangbeng said.

In the adjacent tent lives Tsezin Yamda, a mother with five children. In recent days, the paired-support cadres have delivered urgently needed supplies such as diapers and milk powder. But shewas still worried about the butter and beef buried in her home. With a tentative mindset, she called the phone number posted on the tent. Soon, the paired-support cadre took her husband to her house, followed by a team of firefighters who helped retrieve the buried supplies one by one.

Zhao Hui, a medical worker at Nyong County People's Hospital with 16 years of Party membership, received the task on the night of the earthquake and set off immediately without hesitation. "In such a critical moment, we must charge ahead," she said.

The Party member vanguard team composed of government officials in BaqenCounty is busy distributing meals to the people. "We will go all out to meet whatever the people need," said one team member.

In every village and resettlement site, Party members are selflessly dedicating themselves. Against the blue sky and beside the white snow-capped mountains, the red Party flag shines even brighter.

Warmth in the Cold Night

On October 25, in the resettlement site of the First Village of Gangqie Township, Gasang Dawa, deputy head of the Production and Marketing Office of State Grid Baqing County Power Supply Company, got into a tent. Inside, an electric heater drove away the cold. Seeing the visitor, the elderly man in the tent stood up to greet him.

Gasang Dawa quickly stepped forward to support him, "Bola (Tibetan for grandfather), is it warm inside?"

The elderly man nodded repeatedly. The night before, while inspecting the tent's electrical wiring, Gasang Dawa had found the man sitting with his arms around his legs. It turned out the man suffered from arthritis, and his legs ached whenever the temperature dropped.

Gasang Dawa and his colleagues immediately decided to lay a separate power line and find another electric heater. That night, Gasang Dawa knelt on the ground to finish the wiring work.

After the earthquake, power was cut off in some areas, and 628 base stations went out of service.

At 2 a.m. on October 23, the repair vehicles bumped into the disaster area. Gasang Dawa and his colleagues patrolled and repaired the lines, walking section by section along the route with flashlights. By 8 a.m., the two main power grid lines had been fully inspected, and all fault points were eliminated.

The communication network has also been restored. Karma Jiumei, manager of China Mobile Baqing County Branch, led a team to Maru Township, eliminating equipment faults at 4 a.m. on the 23rd and restoring communication signals.

At 1 p.m. on October 24, China Mobile urgently put into use the cloud-network integrated base station to support the front line, quickly filling and strengthening signal coverage in remote pastoral areas.

Lights on the road

Inthe night, on the mountain road leading to the epicenter, large trucks fully loaded with disaster relief supplies are hurrying on their way, with beams of lights flashing past continuously.

Knowing about the earthquake in Baqen County, truck driver Cui Fangfang signed up online to transport supplies immediately. She drove a 17.5-meter semi-trailer loaded with two excavators and set off from Lhasa.

"I just unloaded one, and there's another one to deliver further ahead," Cui Fangfang said. "I barely rested along the way, just thinking about arriving as early as possible."

Wang Lijun, the excavator driver traveling with her, added: "We have participated in the material transportation for the Tingri earthquake andGyirong mudslide rescue before, so we have experience."

There are many similar stories on this road. Truck driver Ma Fei loaded 30 sets of prefabricated houses, set off from Golmud, Qinghai Province in the afternoon of the 23rd, and arrived at the destination at more than 5 p.m. on the 25th. After unloading the goods, he had not eaten for a whole day and only drank two bottles of water.

Truck drivers Mu Shengjun and Zhong Yanding, who set off from Lanzhou, Gansu, had 500 disaster relief family boxes on their vehicle. The two took turns driving, hurrying nonstop. "Many drivers took the initiative to make way for us when they saw the disaster relief logo on our truck. At that moment, I truly felt that everyone was working together," Zhong Yanding said.

Now, many large trucks are still traveling on the way to the disaster area, fully loaded with various disaster relief supplies.

Beams of lights carry the concerns of countless people and demonstrate the great love of humanity.
